As a home seller, you think you are supposed to hire a big name real estate agent to sell your home.  You actually should hire the real estate agent that is able to find the buyer willing to pay the most money for your home in the shortest amount of time.  Not following?  Let us explain in more detail.

If you hire a real estate agent to list your home for sale, the agent will place your home in the local multiple listing service (MLS) and keep 50% to 60% of the commission for themselves when your property sells. The remainder of the commission you are paying (40% to 50%) is offered to the agent that can find the buyer willing to pay the listing price you set for your home. So for example, if you pay a 6% commission, 3% to 4% will be kept by the listing agent and 2% to 3% will be offered (via the MLS) to the agent that finds the eventual buyer for your home.  Following this process, your home will offer the same "commission reward" to the agents as every other competing home for sale.  This gives you no competitive advantage.
